We are a small family run business here at Mustard Seed Soap Company. Our soap studio is located in East Texas Pineywoods, where we create and offer 100% natural handcrafted tallow soaps, luxuriously rich tallow body butter, mineral bath teas, foaming bath butter scrubs, facial care, shampoo & conditioner bars, accessories that are eco-conscious and more. We are faithful in crafting high-quality, nourishing skincare that our customers love to use on a daily basis. We receive much joy in creating products that are nourishing and gentle to your skin. Products that are beautiful as well as sustainably produced, and environmentally friendly.
Our base soap recipe uses 100% grass fed Tallow that we have slowly rendered down ourselves using the “Leaf Fat” from locally raised cows at Counter Culture Farms. Tallow is in my humble opinion the best skin repairer, moisturizer and skin protectant for our skin. You’ll find Tallow in our Whipped Tallow Butters as well as our Soaps of course! You can read about the benefits of using Tallow here. Each product we offer has been handcrafted and made in small batches by me personally to ensure that quality is at its very best!

Our Process
We have worked hard to perfect our unique formula that is loaded with Tallow (home rendered from locally 100% grass-fed cows) & a blend of luxurious butters and oils such as Shea butter, Coco butter, Coconut oil, infused Olive & Avocado oils, Sweet Almond oil, Apricot Kernel Oil and Castor oil. This formula gives our soaps their gentle and luxuriously rich lather leaving your skin nourished and moisturized. All of our products from our botanical soap bars to our lip butters are scented with pure essential oils and colored with natural clays, homegrown dried herbs, locally sourced dried root powders and herbs, and home dried fruit peels, powders and bits. You can feel confident that you are purchasing a safe and quality assured product.

We do not use palm oil, toxic ingredients, harmful chemicals, or synthetic fragrances/colourants!
About Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
Sodium Hydroxide is a required and an essential ingredient in soap making. Our Lye is food grade. This material has been used for centuries in natural soap making, and when used correctly, it can help create safe all-natural products. However the final result after saponification has occurred Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)is no longer present in the final product. To be completely transparent in everything that goes into our soaps and skin care products Sodium Hydroxide is used in making soap and as such is listed as a main ingredient.
The Process
Each of our botanical soaps are handcrafted in small batches using the time-honored traditional cold process method with. The cold process method of soap making starts with detailed planning and preparation and a minimum 3-4 weeks of curing time for most of our varieties with a few needing 6 weeks. All of these help to ensure that we are providing you with highest quality of soap as well as helping to avoid damaging the beneficial traits of our essential oils used and botanical ingredients within the soap.
Bath Teas
Using natural mineral salts and sea salts, essential oils, clays, and homegrown dried botanicals, we create the most soothing and aromatic botanical bath teas!
Body Butters
Our whipped body butters are luxurious moisture for your skin! Loaded with our Tallow (home rendered from locally 100% grass-fed cows) Mango and Shea butters, Jojoba and Apricot Kernel Oil, and scented with essential oils. Our body butters will quench any dry parched, irritated skin!
